I'd like you to picture a scene. It's a Thursday afternoon. Morag and Andrew are desperately trying to finish preparing a presentation to be delivered on Friday morning. They've been working together for about six months and when asked, claim they have a healthy working relationship. (After all their company's mission statement is 'When it comes to working relationships, we put the health back in healthy.') Time is ticking on. Andrew's got a hot date in an hour's time. Morag has an assignment to finish for college. 'Morag', Andrew starts, 'You're so much better than me at these things. Why don't you finish it off? I'm sure your good work will pay dividends with Mrs. MacDonald'
What does Morag do?
Do you know Morag? If you were her friend, manager, colleague, what advice would you give her? What could you do to avoid this situation happening again?
Here at Engaging Company we take your real life workplace scenarios and devise bespoke training experiences that serve to enrich and enhance working relationships. We may not put the health back in healthy but we will strive to ensure yours is an engaging company.
A workplace isn't always an easy environment to be in. Conflicting views, clashing personalities, deadlines and poor coffee all work against us, thwarting our happiness, getting in the way of what's important. But what is important? To Callum a promotion may be priority; Morag may be concentrating all getting everyone working together in harmony whilst Andrew is secretly planning to leave. So given these factors, how do we work cohesively and happily together? In order to work with a common purpose, a shared goal and with the company mission statement in mind, the most important thing is that we understand each other. And this is where communication skills play a vital role.
Hi, I'm Emer O'Leary (Engaging Company's Director) and what can I do for you?
Firstly, tell me who you are and what your needs are. It's a good starting point. This way I can see if my skills and experience are what you're looking for. I provide inhouse training for groups but also work with individuals on a one-to-one basis. If I'm not the person for you, no problem. I'll help you find someone who is.
